Why do NEWBIES send friend request only to users in "Todays Top Discussions"

I have experienced this, i dont know whether everyone is experiencing it. Whenever my discussion is listed in "Today's Top Discussion" i get many friend request and usually it will be a NEWBIE. I dont know why does this happen? Did it happen only to me or it happens to everyone????

I never experienced this yet, but I do get friend's request from newbies. I just let them hang there for a while and look on their activities here, with this I can measure it up if I would add them or deny them.
There are many resons why newbies are requesting old members to be on their list, the only thing that we can do is guide them on whatever problems they are encountering here. Plus, you can always delete them in your list, if you find them unproductive or you see no interesting topics on their posts.

My discussion came only twice the home page. During that period i got many requests. So i thought that even others will be experiencing the same because i have seen many who always keep up to the homepage :)

Most newbie send friends request to "today's top discussions " users maybe because they feel that they work here at mylot for most of his time in the day and they will response the discussions which he will start.In this way the newbie can earn a bit more here at mylot.

hmm ok fine but i think that this will not be the actual reason because when i was a newbie i came to know about making friends only on the third or fourth day :(

because it is like an assurance for them that this people will definitely answer my discussions for they are on top of the list and so i will have them as my friends here in mylot. like that.
