OK, ive read a lot about the evolution / god botherer debate. Evolution states, if something is not environmentally suited or is unable to adapt, it will die out. Therefore, if we are spending money trying to keep redundant creatures or species from going extinct, are we not working against nature? Wouldnt we be better off letting them go to the wall? blessed be

We could just let them all become extinct, let the seas die, the forests burn away until there is nothing left except a very bland and bleak earth for our children to inherit. If species continue to become extinct because of environmental destruction it is highly questionable whether humanity will survive too - maybe some believe that's a good thing too but it is a very nihilistic point of view. Personally I would prefer to live in a world with Dolphins, Wales, Tigers, Penguins, butterflies, Birds of Paradise and the rest of the myriad of life that makes this world so beautiful.

true, unless such creatures have a limited existence span. If this is the case then are we getting in the way of gods plan by allowing them to continue?

pessimistic and nihilistic it maybe, realistic it certainly is. Would we really have been best served allowing dinosaurs to continue. Also what about bacteria, isnt that life too? should we have allowed small pox virus to thrive so future generations didnt miss out? Just a few problems i have thank you for your intelligent reply, a plus to you

A limited existence span? Everything might have a limited existence span to some extent (in the distant future the earth will be consumed by the heat of the sun) but species are dying now mostly due to human activity. If you want to live in a world as I described above then this is a very pessimistic and nihilistic point of view.

yes your right good old noah and his little ark did a great job of preserving the creatures and enabling them to reproduce, should we have a new age noah to carry on the tradition or should we let nature run its course, and like you say the money maybe could be used in other areas such as fighting poverty, finding cures for illnesses and keeping chidren safe from abusers tc blessed good post

my personal view is let it be, and when the world evolves again all the creatures will again be free to roam the earth tc

it just struck me as strange that we destroy the natural habitats of most of the worlds creatures and then fuss about it when they start to die out, either we honestly go forward and wipe life off the planet or stop doing it, no good driving our cars and then belly aching about the impact it has, blessed be
