What if the spartan king laid down his honor for the lives of his 300? What if his spear hit home and killed Xerxes? What if, what if.. what if.. What do you guys think?

if the spear hit Xerxes, of course the war would be over. During those times, if the commander-in-chief is killed, the troops would automatically surrender. But that would be a lame ending. The better ending would be that the traitor was discovered earlier and that the back up troops were sent immediately so as for the Spartan king and the rest weren't killed.

I must confess, it would have been a breath of fresh air if the Spartans indeed prevailed. Too many heroes have perished at the expense of liars, fakes and traitors. Best answer so far! ^^ anymore brighter tries?

frankly i cant imagine any other ending for the movie. well, for one its not an original creation. it is an adaptation of a novel so the film makers had to follow the script. and even if the spear would have killed Xerxes wouldn't it change the change the course of history. that meant another chapter to read in the history books for the kids. (don't they have enough to read already). anyways, the movie was perfect in the eay it was largely due to the committed performances of all the actors involved. wouldn't want it to change to any other end.

thats the trick ^^ imagination ^^ the endless posibilities.. anyhow, an inch to right of that mighty throw could have meant the lives of how many (saved or of the same fate). what if the god king was a traitor after all and killed the valiant 300 even after surender?.. any other ideas? sky's the limit ^_^

Well for one, since the entire thing is historical, Xerxes couldn't have been killed, and in actuality Xerxes had Leonadis's head chopped off and put on a spear for the rest of Greece to see, but thats where he got it wrong cause that ired the Greeks more and they in turn had the Xerxes on the run.

enlightening! ^_^ I hear inaccuracies within the film abound. I have, for a fact, given up with regards to the historical precision of '300'. Rather, I've switched to a leaning towards the aesthetics of the film as well as the creativity infused in its undeniably excellent overall presention. Thus, this thread, in an attempt to tickle imagination (everyone's initial step to something good) from the MyLot reader/writership. ^_^ The digestion of cinematography, CG usage, plot and chatharsis is indeed tasty meal! Movies like this one are made to entertain, we should take our history classes elsewhere. ^_^

300 is an absolutely terrific movie. the attitude, the valour the spartans display send a chill down my spine. so much to keep their honour. they challenged and even demured a person who projected himself as god. i think they were bogged down by the wrong priests who just had no respect for these warriors. my personal favorite line in the movie when the king says : SPARTANS NEVER RETREAT!!!!!!!!!!. the greatest sequence when the king as a young lad fights the beast and also , when he kicks the intruder into the well..HAD THE SPARTANS LIVED AFTER BEING VICTORIOUS, THEY WOULD HAVE BECOME POPULAR BUT NOT IMMORTAL AND THE SAGA OF THEIR BRAVERY WOULDN'T HAVE CONTINUED TILL ETERNITY..so, in my opinion, a well judged ending..
