Do you fast?

Do you usually fast when the important holidays like Christmas or Easter are approaching?
I used to but lately i haven't. I will try to fast this year at least in the last week before Easter, after all the whole idea is to purify your soul before such an important day.
What do you think? Do you agree with fasting? If so, do you usually fast?
