The tax system

Hey everyone,
Recently I got a payrise, our tax system in the UK is always changing and prices rising.Houses are becoming very expensive and tax is stupid.
My allowance has now went up to 522L which means I can earn around £5222 tax free, then %10 tax on the next few grand and then 22% tax on the rest.
Whats the situation in America, is the tax system better than in the UK?
