I remember the days when I enrolled for a swimming lesson ages back where I would be considered absent if I don't have my swimming cap with me..:P My swimming instructor was so particular with our swimming gears coz according to him we will just get distracted with our hair covering our face if we won't use our swimming cap. He had a point though, but when I mastered swimming, I don't really get to bother wearing a swimming cap, except if we're on a pool with strict policies. But if we're just on the beaches, I hardly even wear caps and googles..all I care was to enjoy the water.. lol how about you, do you always make sure to bring along with you your swimming cap when you go swimming either in the pool or just in the beach?

I am still a beginner swimmer and I know I need to wear goggles and swimming cap when having my swimming lessons in the pool or even in the beach so I could focus and never get distracted by my hair covering my face... well, if I feel like to, I wear them but if my tantrums attack, you'll get tired of pushing me to wear one..lol I just don't feel comfortable with those swimming caps, they don't make me look good at all... I'd rather tie my hair at the back. :P and it still serves it's purpose while making me feel comfy. :P

well, if you tie your hair tight, guess that would help anyways. :P just hope your tantrums don't attack at all times.. lol

Oh no I look silly in a bathing cap. I only wear one when swimming at the YMCA cause I have to. I understand it is to keep the hair out of filters but I would rather tie my hair back. I do like goggles even thought they don't make me look much better as I don't like water in my eyes. Especially chlorine water.

you have a point, maildumpster.. the swimming cap does protect your hair from falling thus causing some trouble when stuck in the filter. :P

No, I have never worn a swimming cap. My hair is a very short cut style, if I had very long hair, I would probably wear a swim cap. The reason I would chose to wear a cap then would be to keep from having to dry the long hair and re-style it, which would likley take a while; and to keep from clogging the pool filter with the long hairs that would come out of my head. If I were to swim in a pool where a cap was mandatory then of course I would wear one.

I used to be a competitive swimmer. Now,if I am near water, Im usually doing laps, or playing with my water polo ball. So, I do still wear a swim cap. It can protect my hair from chlorine and other icky things. But I don't tend to hang around beaches or such. I don't really like wearing a bathing suit in public, so it's fine... If I am near water, it's for exercise and I wear my cap.

I am a swimmer and a female with hair levelling my shoulders.. We usually train in swimming pools and it is required to wear swmming caps there but usually in beaches, or whenever we are relaxing, we usually skip the swimming caps and dive in the water.

When enrolled in a swimming lessons, complete simming attire is a must. That includes bathing suits for girls and swimming trunks for boys, swimming caps and even the goggles too. When I had my swimming lessons when I was still on my 5th grade in elementary, it was a must to wear those stuff completely. Like you, when I've mastered swimming, i rarely wear swimming caps when in the beach. ANd I'm not even comfortable wearing one when in the pool. I only wear it if I have to. :)

I have never worn a swimming cap. I can see your instructor's point though about your hair being a distraction. I never would have thought of that. We go swimming quite often in the summer and I don't recall seing anyone wearing a swimming cap. I wonder if they only do it in certain areas.

I don't swim anymore but I alway wore a swimming cap whenever I did. We had a swimming pool where I worked and the rules were that everybody, men included, must wear a swimming cap otherwise we would not be allowed to use the pool. I also wore one at the beach, as my hair was very long and I didn't like the salt water to get into my hairas it used to make it feel very thick and sticky.

nope i dont wear one..i dont attend any swimming lessons anyway..but i think it would be good to wear one to avoid our hair to be wet if your frequently doing it and not be dry due to exposure of the sun..

i have many friends who put on their swimming gears religiously. but i don't consider them important once i throw myself in the salty waters of the beautiful beaches.

Most pools used to make you wear a cap if your hair was past your shoulders. I can't honestly say if they still do it because I swim mostly in the lake or in private pools. I remember as a kid though, hating those ugly things. HOW were you supposed to impress the guys with a rubber cap on your head? LOL

When I was young, I took swimming lessons. Mom was very particular about me wearing a swimming cap and she used to hurt me trying to force it on to my head. S he finally asked the swimming instructor if wearing a Swimming cap was necessary and he turned round and pointed at all the other kids there and said, do you think so? Not one of the other kids wore one. From that point on, I've never worn a swimming cap. I never wore one at the beach anyway. I had my swim suit on and thats it.

When I was a child I always wore a swim cap and so did my friends and we wouldn't go swimming without one. Now though I would never wear one and never see children wearing them. I guess times change.

I never wear swimming cap or goggles in beaches. Actually in the swimming pools, there is a high content of chlorine in the water. That's what makes the water smelly. This water might burn the eyes of kids. So, I think, the kids should wear goggles. But I don't know why one should wear them at the beach. Also, I don't know the significance of the cap. If one doesn't have long hair which might cover the eyes while swimming, why would he have to wear the cap I don't know. At the beach, there are no rules. So I never wear them at the beach.

nah i never wear goggles or a hat to be honest, it just gets in my way. I will put my girlfriends goggles on when we go swimming if I want to go under water but other than that I don't bother.
