just a simple question to people who know about this. i have this old microwave and there is some rust inside of it. actually my husband brought it home from work when we moved into our own appartment because they didn't use it anymore...so its like a hand-me-down sort of thing. i've been trying to do everything to get the rust out. i want a new one, but my husband is hesitant on getting another one because he doesn't want to spend too much money. what should do??

I would stop using it immediately. It's now worth taking the risk. I don't know where you live, but here in the New Jersey you can find brand new microwave at Target, K-Mart and Wal-Mart for under $40.00. I wouldn't chance it. Lloyd

I am having that same problem too. My 5 year old microwave oven is rusting inside and I just could not get the rust off. My wife tried everything too and the rust are still there. The microwave oven still works well though. Hope to read some tips here.

Personally I wouldn't use it unless I had it tested, I have been told you have to be very careful with them, for health reason you should at least have it tested for leakage...be careful not worth it if it is a health risk.

I don't know if it's a good idea to use it or not. Microwaves are not too expensive nowadays. You might be able to get one from a thrift shop for a good price.
