Quiet please! I'm trying to read your profile page!

Why do people allow other members to add a comment on their profile page that includes a loud irritating sound effect? Sometimes I visit someone's profile page with the intention of reading and posting on one of their discussions and you are confronted with a bomb exploding or an annoying voice, advert or tune. If I am listening to music on my computer this intrusion of sound blocks out my music. It ususally gets on my nerves so much that I have to exit the profile page as soon as possible meaning that the person has lost my contribution to their discussion.

Same here mugzy. I always have it on mute but a couple of days ago I had some songs playing that I will soon be performing and this 1950's bubble gum pop came out of no where. There was not a stop button which would have been more than courteous. I didn't know you could put sound on a mylot profile page. Now I find out someone else can leave sound? WTF. Thats just rude. I'm glad I surf on mute.

Yes, a stop button would be nice - if there is one I can't find it.

I'd never thought music would scare some members off my profile. But i'd came across guys who were curios to know how we upload songs on profile and that they'd liked my somgs.lol.But anyway, now that i know, i am gonna delete all the music i'd uploaded on my profile at this very moment. Thanks for the alert.

The main irritation for me was not so much the personal music that people use on their site but the music or sound effects that some individuals attach to their messages that they send to their friends.

I know exactly what you mean, one of my friends has the soundtrack to titanic and I love it and I had turned the volume up a wee tiny bit (unusual for me ) I forgot I had thew sound and I went to another discussion , It was just noise no music , I just about jumped out of my skin , so now I have the sound off , I love everything else about the site though xx

Yes, I agree! The default should be that sounds have to be turned on not turned off all the best urban

I have no answer for you. I found this post interesting as I did not even know that could be done, so I wanted to say that I too could see where that might get annoying. I for one tend to keep my volume muted, so I might not even notice. It is good of you to let others know if it bothers you !

Thanks for the response, that's right... if you never have your sound on then you would never notice :-)
