Most babies start out with light colored eyes (typically blue) and then change, if they are going to, within the first 6 weeks after birth. Most people think brown is the dominant color, as did I until I was pregnant with my son and though he'd be brown eyed like me. That's when the nurses and doctors informed me that blue was the dominant color and sure enough, my son has blue eyes. The only requirement is that there be 2 'b' factors (blue factors) . . . one on each side. For instance, if you are Latin American and the other side is Irish, the chances of having a blue eyed baby are very slim. Green and hazel are somewhere in the mix but as I understand it, there has to be the "factors" for the outcome to be positive that direction.

My pediatrician told me they usually change around 6 to 9 months old. I had just asked like a month ago because both my babies have blue eyes. I wanted at least one of them to have green eyes like me. They both had like a grayish blue color when they were born and then they got lighter blue. I'm not sure about them changing later on but I guess anything is possible.
