A recent discussion in our local paper. Most of the younger and older persons thought that too much hype was put on caffeine. The middle genenration is the ones who thought that too much caffeine was bad for you. What is your opinion? Good or bad?

Some people should not have caffeine, such as those with heart and thyroid problems. And in children, only some get "hyper" with it. So I would say that good or bad, in caffeine use, is individual and would depend upon health conditions or reaction to caffeine.

Accordingly, caffeine is bad but now many people and even those who are in the medical field say that caffeine is good. I think it depends upon the body of the person concerned. If the reaction is not good, then he/she should not drink drinks with caffeine.

I think it is quite safe to say that caffeine is quite bad. After all, it sends your body into overdrive. It causes damage to your body. But coffee actually contains a lot of antioxidants - more than e.g. green tea for instance. I was quite surprised what I found out about that. So what I did was to get the best of both worlds. I went to buy a bottle of decaffeinated coffee so that I can have the goodness of coffee without the caffeine. So I have coffee (without caffeine) almost everyday now. ;-)
