Breaking News - Bank Robbery in Miami Beach

United States
March 27, 2007 10:22am CST
Just heard a breaking news report on one of our local stations. A bank in Miami Beach was just robbed. One person has been arrested. After the arrest, the police received a phone call telling them to release that person or they would start shooting and killing people in the bank. No news yet on how many "robbers" are still inside the bank or how many customers. What do you think the police should do? Should they release the person arrested, bring in a SWAT team, or what?

Actually this is a police matter where only the police officers can decide better. But if my opinion is neede, I would rather keep the arrested robbers and negotiate with the ones that were left inside the bank While they are preparing for a SWAT attack. If they will release these robbers, then the same situation will be repeated.

They did bring in the SWAT team. I found out in subsequent updates that the other robbers had supposedly gone into a building across the street and that's where they were supposedly holding people hostage. However, after many hours of people leaving the other building one by one, they couldn't find anyone else. Maybe I'll hear more on the 11 pm news. It's coming on shortly. OH, and I do agree with you.

OMG I feel for the hostages in that situation. The police have to run a hard line on this otherwise it would create more situations like it. They would be best to stall the robbers and bring in the SWAT team to take them out as they could. I saw in your other posts that it turned out to be they couldn't find any others which was good but still I bet it was tense there for a long time. I hope they throw the book at the one they do have and get him to rat out who ever the other callers were.

I totally agree with you. I hope that guy gets the book thrown at him and that he will identify the other caller.

Truly amazing. I would hope that they don't give in to those domestic terrorists and maybe it would not be tried again. I would be proud to give my life to stop the bad people in their tracks in any way possible. This cannot be tolerated. Not sure what they should do at this point without more information. Just keep the bad guy that they have.

They DID keep him, but they never did arrest anyone else. Someone was making phone calls to the bank and telling them to tell the cops they were going to start shooting if they didn't release the man they arrested...like they'd really listen to that. They even evacuated nearby buildings trying to find the other robber/robbers. I sure hope the man they arrested will tell them who was with him.

Bring in the swat team and a negotiator.

SWAT team was there, but no need for a negotiator since they never did find anyone else involved. Maybe I'll learn more tomorrow. At least no one was hurt in all this.

That's horrible! Those poor people. I know the police can't negoiate with these people. I think releasing the person they captured isn't going to deter the trapped robber into turning himself in. My heart certainly goes out to those people. I can't find it on the tv. I cancelled my cable a few months back to upgrade to dsl ultra. I spend more time on the computer than watching tv. I only miss Channel 13!

Don't worry about not seeing it. They had the nearby elementary school on lockdown for at least 5 hrs, and the parents couldn't get their kids until after 7 pm. The news is coming on now, so maybe I can learn something else. I have my small TV on my desk right next to my monitor, so I can "use" both at the same time.
