Writing a book

Has anyone here ever written a book? I've always wanted to but its hard to get ideas to write about. I think I have one that I'm going to try. I'm not sure how it will turn out or if I'll ever finish it, but I'm going to give it a shot. Has anyone here ever had a book published? I would love to publish a book and make lots of money so that my family wouldn't have to work so much. I would probably keep working because I like my job, but thats only because I like my job. lol Anywho, what are your experiences with writing?

Writing certainly isn't that glamorous.. new authors are too many and unless you have superb connections, you might get rejected many times before a publisher is willing to look at your work. Try self-publishing if you want. www.lulu.com is a starting point for you when you get your book done up. ;P

I have never tried to write a book before. I am not that talented! If you feel that you should write a book I think you should! Even if the chances of getting it published may not happen, it is still a sense of accomplishment to have achieved your goal. You can look into internet publishing or call around to local publishers to see where you can get started!

I actually found a site online called lulu.com. You can publish your books and try to sell them there. I'm going to give them a try...if I ever get a book written. I have an idea for a book, it's just getting onto paper. I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens!

That has always been a latent goal of mine. I say latent because I haven't done much of anything to make it happen yet, but it is frequently on my mind. I feel like I have something to say in a book. I feel like that that could be my ultimate path, but I haven't found my direction just yet. I do like to write very much, and I'd love to have a bestselling novel so I could stop worrying about money, but my motivation to want to write a book is not purely about money. It would just be a nice by-product of a successful book.

I've finally started a book. Although I'm not even done with the first page. I have so much going on that it's hard to find the time now that I have an idea. But I'm getting there. I hope I can do good with it, but I don't look for it to be a best seller. Although my husband says they will make a movie out of it. Isn't he just so sweet. Crazy, but sweet.

In 2005 I published a cookbook of Danish recipes in English, but I gave the book a Danish title. It's called "Tak For Mad," which translates to "Thanks For The Food." It was easy to do, as I self-published, using http://www.lulu.com More information on my book can be found here! Tak For Mad ISBN: 1-4116-3456-X Buy an E-Book, help save the planet! http://littlelemur.com/Tak%20For%20Mad.htm Print copies also available. http://www.lulu.com/content/116633

Thanks! Lulu.com is probably where I'll go to self publish my book. Did you have any success with the selling of your book?

I've always thought that would be a really neat thing to do also. I just never quite knew how to begin. Taking a writing class might help. And starting with an outline of your ideas, and how the characters are going to interact and develop would be a place to start. Just try to write in the style that you like to read. Good luck!

I did some research online on how to write a book and thats basicly what I found. Make an outline, write down your characters and who they are, and make a rough draft. I also read that its a idea to keep paper and pencil with you at all times incase you get an idea. So, I'm going to try that. Thank you!

I have never written a book (other than collections of poetry and novellas for creative writing class)... but I have never written one professionally. I have been published in my school's literary magazines several times though. I would love to write a book someday, but I'd like to wait until I have a few more years of life experience under me.
