Why do people have to get so big headed about small roles of leadership?

I can not believe how people can take a small ordeal and turn it into some large ruling. I am currently trying to help manange a homeowners association. The lady that has just become President of the Board thinks she rules. She is more like a dictator. She just does not get it that what the Board votes is what actually rules over everyone. But even when vote is taken she still goes with what she thinks is right. But everything she thinks is right only causes a mess.

I see a lot of people get like that at work, especially with the officers. Always trying to make things get done their way or no way at all, trying to make their mark of so called greatness I guess. When in reality they are trying to fix something that isn't broke, if things run smooth why change it? I will probably never know for sure, I'll just sit back and watch everyone else "lead" the way. Otherwise you end up with a case of too many Chiefs and too little Indians. Also, I'd rather be pissed off at them, than them pissed off at me. That's just me though.

I'm not saying that I can't be a leader, I would rather not in some cases. If someone is royaly screwing up though I will surely let them know, probably not nicely, then I would take over.
