News: English soldiers hostages in Iran

Well, I'm a Brit and the fact that our sailors and marines were taken whilst still in Iraqui waters, whilst carrying out duties under a UN Mandate, is sickening. The display of the footage of the service personnel on Iranian TV is unacceptable, and I trust that teh UK Government is doing what it can to get a quick diplomatic result here. The fact that world opinion is behind the UK is important - and should push come to shove I'm certain that we'll be able to rely on our allies to help out; we'd do the same for them. :-) I doubt it will come to fighting; the Iranians have been caught out with the existence of the positional data that shows clearly that the event took place in Iraqui waters. They'll be trying to save face now; they cannot risk a conflict with the West at the moment as they have very few, if any, allies to support them and their much vaunted nuclear weaponry is still at the development stage. This is a good time for the West to push home their advantage, and a bad time for Iran to have chosen this particular approach. I would expect that there might be changes at the top in Iran after this; brinksmanship can go too far. But here's to a successful, peaceful and sensible resolution to the problem.

hi,friend,without asking help by people[not governments]entering into other countries personal matters is very bad.Today this country..tomorrow may be our's.Of course....For the wrong decisions of government citizens are facing the problems.The 9/11 incidents may repeat..every second people are spending time with INSECURITY..What a hell,because of this soldiers entering into other country's politics.See people are sleeping with no worry in some countries.

I am all against taking hostages. It does not matter who does it or who the hostages are. I think it was absolutely wrong to show the hostages on TV. That said, I understand Iran needs to do something. They feel threatened, and i do not blame them. I think they have a need to show the world they will not just sit idly by and see others invade their territories. But I am all against taking hostages.
