most irritating noise is from honking in our place(mumbai,india)most two,three and four wheelers use air horns which are very dangerous for the ears.but we do not have strict regulations to prohibit such horns.

I would have to say nails scratching on a chalk board. The other stuff i can handle and somewhat drown out.

The worst noise in my opinion is when styrofoam rubs against itself. It goes right through me and grates on my nerves. I just want to scream. Of course everything is packed with it and trying to unpack them is really hard without it rubbing against itself. I try to do it as fast as I can.

I just responded with my own but as I am reading through I keep seeing ones that I have to comment on, lol. I hate that too. I don't know what it is about that but when I either hear the cup rubbing against itself or something else or if I see someone rubbing one or tearing one apart it goes right through me too.
And you know how gross men can be right? Well sometimes my husband takes a washcloth or towel and rubs his teethe on it and when I see him doing that I want to scream. Well he noticed that I don't like it and so now he does it on purpose because he thinks it's funny to irritate me, lol. Men!

Oh yes I hate the static too. If our satelite box goes out as soon as that static starts I have to mute it because it drives me nuts, lol. :)

Nails on the chalkboard. It just sends chills through my whole body!
I've gotten used to the kids yelling really loud--a long time ago that would have been my answer.

I hate to hear car alarms go off. It is just so irritating with all those weird sounds they make. Some honks are also hateful. They make these weird sounds that would make your heart skip. I hate the fright.
In my job also, I sometimes test speakers and I let them go off for like months and the sound is just so monotonous and loud. It just makes you feel dizzy at times and disoriented.

One of the noises that irritates me the most is the sound of wrappers crumbling. Or grocery bags, the plastic kind when they are being moved, I hate that sound too.

All the foreign noises when sleeping alone in a hotel room. I hate traveling for work, and can rarely sleep in a hotel room alone..

Hi, I think the worst noises arrive when you're trying to get to sleep at night, The noise of the central heating really bugs me or a dripping tap, you almost have to count inbetween the drips!!

none of those used to bother but now id have to say nail on a chalk board. when i was in school this one guy always came in the room and did that. and just laugh about it. he did it so much and so loud oh just the thoughts of it sends chills down my spine lol

i cannot tolerate the noise that comes out when cats are on roofs and scratches their nails on them.that really hurts my ears..or when children plays with those things they use to put food in or cups made of styros..just thinking of it makes me cringe

Any noise when you're trying to go to sleep is the worst noise - a dripping tap, dog barking, baby crying, central heating humming - those are all the ones that annoy me and I would think are the worst noise! Cotton wool makes me cringe too!
