Ivy League college vs European Soccer

My neice is facing a tough decision. She has worked hard all of her academic life and has been accepted into an Ivy League college - her first choice for schools. She also has put in a lot of time and effort to secure funding to pay for school. She is also a very gifted soccer player. She has been chosen to play on a very elite soccer team that would require she live and travel in Europe for a year. She thinks she will not have this soccer opportunity again - in fact feels pretty sure about it. She is talking with the school about still have a spot when she returns and that, so far seems to be working in her favor. The funding she has secured to pay for school will likely go away leaving her to apply for student loans. She wonders if the debt she will be strapped with after finishing college is worth living a soccer dream for one year. If the school was not working with her I would say definitely stay here and go to school. Since they are and she will likely be able to fullfil that dream of hers, the decision really seems to be dream vs. money. I think that every time she writes a check to pay off her student loans she will be able to smile remembering a memory of living her soccer dream. What do you guys think? I am going to share all of these responses with her. Please include person experiences whenever possible.
