when to say a couple should live seperately?

at what point in marraige problem time should a couple decide to live seperately and go on with thieir own life? what a bout the children?

If you have to ask the question, then it's already time. You must decide what is best for the children, but attempting to remain friends with there other parent always helps the children adjust to the change. And seperation, is always better then having your children grow up around negative behavior.
