Will the philippines be Improved? Or more rally will create in the city? I think the main solution for these is we must adopt what other successful countries do.

It is not the British that inspired Singaporeans to be what we are. We had and having very good leaders, that is the main contributing factor for the great success to Singapore. The leaders of Singapore had a vision and they worked on their vision without much thought for themselves. The other contributing factors, fortunately, Singapore and Hong Kong are small in geography, area wise.

you got a point . it was once a topic in one of our classes back then. yeah, if we try to visalize it, it is possible and positive economy may be an outcome.. who would not have a good economy if British Pounds is backing up your finances...thats a deal!! however, as the word patriotism and loyalty goes, being subjected to Britain may be dfficult, because there are always the "Patriots" and or shall we say the "Leftist". If I think of it, it may be pretty easy to gain economic improvement that way. but i think, our country's dillema doesnt stop in financial matters. and i believe its mostly caused by attitudinal issues by some Filipinos. I think Your contention is possible but not doable.

Why do you solve the problems of Iraq and Afghanistan if there is no benefit?

Also, in order to solve your countries problems we would need to do some things that would make us very unpopular in the short term. I think we'd have to start by locking up half the population, from what I here all the best urban

Singapore and Hong Kong are just like cities compared to the archipelago of the Philippines. I think this is not necessary because we've been always 'used' by other foreign countries long ago. Filipinos are hard-headed people, they dont want to adopt other proven strategies from other countries, they always strive for uniqueness-- which did not help either. I conclude that Filipinos wants just to be 'sovereign', that's all, but they're against any changes.

In our own history, the Philippines was almost taken by the british that was in 1762 when Manila was briefly captured. "Treaty of Paris" forced British to return Manila to Spain after the end of 7 years war. I researched about the british colonies and I found out that at present they are doing great in terms of economy. Now that makes you think about what if huh? On the other hand colonies of Spain are now suffering politically and economically like the Philippines for instance. Change is inevitable so we have to change policies or government whatever to cope up with the changing times. The reason that we are not moving forward is because of fear. Fear of making mistakes, fear of change. Why dont we try it first before making conclusion right? I also agree that we should have a good leader. Good leader will also come from the society which the country is caring, developing and protecting. If you have a good environment then good leaders will come out of it.Taking the first step is essential!

I like your comment, well if we have gunless society fear will not rule. Also in arms businessprobably it fall , but arms is the root of evil. You see the policeman in hong kong then, gunless.

We have much deeper problems to resolve first before making this country successful. To start with is to find the root of all evil. Why do our fellow Filipinos are progressing in other countries than us? Blame it to the government. I think now is the time to stop blaming each other and get to the problem at hand. But it seems most of the filipinos are contented with what they have. and that is the trait that is stopping us from progressing. so sad...

As the country is growing the progress must be double, we must not content to a single improvement. Even though some city are progreesing but the other are not progressing, we must maintain that every year population is growing and jobs must be doubled also with the agriculture must be doubled too.

I think that the problem lies in the leadership because they are more of their own personal interests than for the welfare of the country and the Filipino people. There is a very big amount of funds that go into graft and corruption.

of course i wouldn't want that to happen. we filipinos are so used to living life the way we want it to be no matter how corrupt and self-centered our government officials are. and in my opinion, the happy disposition of the Filipino people will be washed away if foreigners created rules for us. i'm not sure if it was ex-president Manuel L. Quezon who said "i'd rather live in a country run like hell by filipinos rather than live in a country run like heaven by foreigners." (or something like that.)

It's just that I think what will run for them might not run for us. Knowing us the Filipinos, it'll really be a riot and of course war. Who wouldn't? Imagine being a captive of your own country. Although the intention is good like what the Americans did before behind the ulterior motives, it's still different if we as a Filipino rise up with our sikap and tiyaga.

I guess so. It's better to try than seeing the country lead by people who have graduated in prestigious UNiversity in the United states, but then they cannot improved the status of the country. Can you see the big difference or the improvement that had happened in the Philippines for the last 30 years? I guess not. Many people die of hunger and violence. Many people are getting hungrier everyday because of poor education and unemployment.A few people's pocket are improving and developing but not the country. I guess it's about time we let others run the country.GoodlucK!

I am also thinking on that line. Why we the people just hire a president to implement our laws and discipline us. After four or six years we could evaluate his performance and either extend or replace him/her. It will be just like a corporation.
