White lies, what do you think?

White lies are lies that are said to be "good" lies. As what Jim Carry said in the movie Liar Liar, it's when daddy had to tell mommy that she doesn't look like a cow when she was pregnant...when in fact she is. Anyway, what do you think about white lies? Do you think it is justifiable to lie about something just to not hurt somebody's feelings? Or would you rather be outright and tell the truth even if it causes pain to others? As for the receiving end, would rather be lied on (of course white lies), or would you rather hear the truth?

I was always taught that you should never ask a question that you wouldn't want an honest answer to.I don't like to be lied to about anything big or small. I actually hope that people respect me enough to be honest with me.My feelings maybe hurt a little but atleast I know that people think I am mature enough to handle the truth.

Hmmm...I think it depends on my mood. Like if I'm in a very bad mood, I would rather hear the whole truth than having to second guess if its white lies. I prefer people to be straight with me. If they like to tell me something, I like them to lay all the cards on the table and be done with it. Logically speaking, it is better to hear everything right away no matter how painful it will caused me than to hear the half truth and be hurt over and over again.
