I've tried adjusting my sleep schedule to one that is more "normal" but nothing has worked. I am up til 5-6 am because I just can't sleep - I stare at the ceiling and nothing. Then when I do fall asleep - I cant seem to drag my self out of bed before 3 pm - I've got a little one that wakes every morning between 8-9am and I of course drag myself out to take take of him but them he spends the next few hours playing in the playpen and exersaucer - anysuggestions without resorting to sleeping pills?

Have you been to see your doctor? I know you don't want to take pills but if your body is in a set routine it might be the only real way to break the cycle. Perhaps rather than go to bed that late, if you can't sleep why not just stay up the whole day. Hopefully you should be that exhausted come evening time that you go to sleep at a normal time. But if this has been a pattern for a long time I fear that you will need proffessional help overcoming your problems. Good luck.

what are you thinking about? you may need to quiet the mind, when you can, try concentrating on your breath and relax(as you quiet your mind) sit still or lay down and concentrate on your breathing as if you were looking at it... also: B vitamins(for stress),pepperment tea, warm mild, chamomile tea, valerian, melatonim and maybe depression(natural) pills during the day like saint johns wort 3xs a day(until you are under control ... don't eat heavy meals at night, eat some fruit with cottage cheese(is has something in it that will help you sleep also)... if you wake up in the middle of the night, take some deep breaths/inhale to your belly button, then exhale very slowly and this should keep you in the mood for falling sleep... don't start thinking.... if not, you will need sleeping pills, but ONLY to get you in the pattern of going to sleep at the same time everyday... for not too long... NOTHING WILL WORK IF YOU ARE NOT RELAXED, TRUST ME I WENT TO THE DOCTOR 2YEARS AGO WITH THIS PROBLEM, SHE GAVE ME PILLS THAT COST $100, THEN I COULD STILL NOT SLEEP, SO SHE PRESCRIBED A $6 BOTTLE AND I STILL HAD THE PROBLEM AND WAS BLAMING IT ON THE DOCTOR LOL... NO THING WILL WORK IF YOU ARE STRESSED...

please do not fear or disturb yourself. it is high court order which cannot be checked and if you think that after taking sleeping pills, you will get your anxietyness stopped, you are in illussion. second think if you sleet 11 or 11.30 p.m. at night, and if you get up early morning i.e. 5 or 6 am it is too good and nothing to worry. thanks.

dO u drink milk? try drinking a cup of warm milk an hour before you sleep. avoid foods that are rich in stimulants like coffee, coke, or even chocolates. it helps me a lot. so i tried to share it with you.

I've suffered from insomnia for years. My Mom says I had it as a kid. Best thing I can suggest is set a schedule and stick to it. Force yourself to be tired so that when the so called normal time of sleep comes around you can actually go to bed. No caffene as well. I usually have none after 9pm. No eating 2-3 hours before the given bedtime. Good luck with this. It's not easy.
