What is the best present for the teacher?

Hi, in the indian culture, especially enciant time, we should give present after completing the study. Do you think such pratice is still relevance to the present day?

Well, back when I was in school, me and my classmate (we collected some money) did buy some present for our teacher as a thank you and appreciation for all the things our teacher had done for us during our school time. It wasn't a must though. It's just our free will and we gave it from our heart. And I'm still continuing that tradition to my daughter teachers.

Where we live it is not praticed to give a present after studies. As far as the kids go is to give a apple occassionally and maybe a gift for the birthday of the teacher or a christmas gift.
