Should I go or should I stay?

O.K. So last week I sent out a resume for a job position for data entry that was in the paper. It didn't say what shift they needed the people for (there were a few other jobs listed too) so I sent it in hoping maybe I could still do the data entry at home maybe on third shift. On my resume is says seeking a third shift position. Well they called today for me to come in on Monday evening (very bad timing for me cause I'm asleep) for a group interview. I've never even heard of a group interview before. I asked the lady what shift the job was for - she said first but then said that they're were several position available. So my question is - should I go? It's a really bad time for me being as I am normally asleep during that time and I do have to work that night. Plus I'm not even sure they'd let me do the data entry job at home on third shift. BUT there is alway the chance they would let me. I need some advice please!

It sounds like this is a temp service. Which, there is nothing wrong with a temp service...but you would have to remember that you will only get the position when it comes available. Also, you would probably have to test for it. And those tests can take an hour or two. So, you need to be wide awake and alert to take such tests. If you fear that you will not get anywhere with this group interview, I would get my sleep instead. Especially if you have to work that night. If you are wanting a data entry position...and I have done it, it is not too bad but it is not work from home that is legit....go to a temp agency. They will interview you when you are available. But the group things...they are never that productive. Hope this has helped. :)

It's not a temp service. It's for a chiropractors office. I have thought about going to a temp service though. I'm leaning towards not going. I somehow don't think they'll let me do it from home. I just hate not knowing. I don't really want to work for that office either. I don't really like the owner. Thanks for your advice :)

Well I'll be honest, most I have found that are doing a group interview are actually doing sales and not other work. This has been my experience anyways so something to think on. I don't see why they would do a group interview for data entry other wise. Personally I'd go by my gut and if you don't feel comfortable in going then don't. There is usually a reason for why we feel that way.

I agree. Often though my nerves take over my instints and make me second guess myself. I guess I just need to realize that if I go or if I don't either way it was meant to be...but it doesn't help me know LOL.

I think you should go because if you dont you will always wonder about it. Thats the way I am anyway.LOL It doesnt mean you have to take the job. Just go and see if you can get something for home. And Good Luck

Too bad you did not ask if this was the only group meeting. They might have had a couple. OK, now, you can sleep any other time and a nap does wonders. It is only one time and so I say go and find out all about it. You deserve the chance and by showing up you are in the game and may be selected. If you don't go you will wonder. Arrange it and handle it the best you can and best of luck!
