We have a lot of local summer camps in the area. You can spend a ton of money on some and others are quite affordable. My son appreciates these things more so then my girls, they like being home and getting the good things in life like air conditioning, no bugs and flushies! LOL I was wondering how many people send their kids to summer camp? For how long? What are your kids ages?

Hi! My daughter is too little to go to summer camp, but I think there should be summer camp for adults. Like, 2 weeks in Las Vegas, all expenses paid plus gambling money and aspirin (for sensory overload from the casinos LOL). I'd go! :-)

I wish I could send CJ to a summer camp. Don't know if they have any close to home that are for 'special needs' children or not. I would be rather skittish about sending him and not going along; especially if they'd be by water, etc. I know that I have to give him more freedom as time goes on but there are a lot of well meaning people/workers with children, etc. that don't pay attention as they should. I will check things out and see if there's something here for him that I'd feel safe in letting him go without me...

My niece goes to a summer camp that is an all day camp. She comes home at night :). It's great. It starts at 7:30 in the morning and we don't have to pick her up till 5:30 at night, Monday through Friday It costs $50 a week. It keeps her busy and she has a lot of fun. It's right around the corner from us too so not far to drive. They do some field trips that cost extra now and then but over all it includes everything. It runs for 8 weeks during the summer and you don't have to do all the weeks if you don't want to but we do hehe. I love having it and she loves going. This year she might be old enough to be a counselor in training, she's 12 and will turn 13 right after it starts. If she is old enough that would give her some leadership skills and cut our costs for it. Can't wait to find out.

I used to work for the YMCA and my children got to go to camp for free. I don't work for them any more so now my kids go to a five day four night camp through our church and they love it and I love it because it's a nice little break and my house is a little queiter. I have three kids. 7,9 and 11. My nine and soon to be eight year old will get to go for the first time this year. My oides is a big home body and doesn't like going to camp.

i have just graduated from college last year. and i still could recall from my memory that my parents never sent me to any kind of camps. during holidays. i would rather stay at home chattng with my parents, or hang out with a friend or two to travel to see the outside world. cos i think in this way. i could also broaden my own vision and there were a lot to learn from our nature and world. and i have to see different kinds of poeple. and make new friends while touring around the cities where i was not familiar. and i could take quite a lot of pictures of the natural beauty since i loved shooting from a very young age. and isn't cool to stay at home with my parents or hang out with a friend or two?
