Don't tell me how I should feel.

I'm really tired of people telling me that I should support the armed forces. I don't support the war, so how can I support the troops? I'm sick of people telling me that the troops are dying to protect my freedom. First of all I never asked them to die for me, and I wouldn't want them to die for me. Second of all, I don't believe for one second that what they are doing is going to protect my freedom. If other people want to support the troops, fine. Just don't try to convince me to support them, it isn't going to happen. Maybe I'd support them if it was a fight worth fighting, but it isn't. They aren't accomplishing anything that's going to make things better for anyone. They are just causing death and destruction for no valid reason. I don't support violence and that is that.

During world War II germans supported their troops and see what happened..... The United States is the agressor and invading force. Just like the germans in Poland during World War II. Before you answer consider these facts: Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 Iraq did not represent a threat to the US The invasion of Iraq ia a blantant act of agression by a rogue state (a rogue state does not respect international law - and the US does note respect international law. Americans feel they are above the law) So there

Different people stand for different beliefs and morals. That is the beauty in diversity where people don't naturally agree with each other. That makes the world more complex and dynamic. People have different opinions about things and it should be respected. Just the like the way they support the army and you don't. Both parties should respect and honor the choice an individual makes. Personally, I chose not to involve myself in politics because I do not believe in the government and politics as a whole so i don't vote. Just like your right to not immerse yourself in a war that doesn't make any sense, i reserve my right not to vote. It all boils down to having an open mind and trying to understand the point that another individual is trying to convey. We don't necessarily have to agree with each other and we don't need to force anyone into believing something that is obviously not entertained by another indiviudal. Respect is the key. With this we will all live in happier society.

Thanks for your response. I do respect the right of others to feel how they want to feel. I just don't like it when others try to push it off on me and try to make me feel like a terrible person if I don't agree with them. I don't vote either. I really don't have confidence in any of the candidates and I strongly suspect that the elections are fixed anyway.

People will always want you to see their point of view especially if they are passionate about it. That is when it is hard for them to accept other people's opinions. I know how I feel about the war and the armed forces. I am entitled to my opinion. But I don't try to force my opinion on anyone else.

We all believe in different things, and we all stand for different things. Other people sometimes have a distinct lack of respect for others beliefs. I agree with you about this war. Nothing good has come from it, yet more and more people are dying every day because of it. Violence is never the answer.

Well I can understand how you feel about the war as I dont like it either. But on the other hand I know what it was like to be in the military and I know what you have to put up with there too. I think the best support we can show our troops is get them home and alive instead of sending more to die for the bs lies of politicians. I have often said if the politicians and religeous leaders would go fight the wars there wouldnt be any wars. But like they said in the movie Troy war is old men talking while young men die.

You can be supportive of our troops without supporting the war itself. I support our troops and I think our country and our President should support them by insisting that they have good medical care, which they don't, as well as jobs when they return. They are doing their job over there whether they support the war or not and I think it's important that they know how grateful we are for that. I remember the Vietnam war when no one supported our troops. They didn't ask for the war, they were just doing their job.

Yes people have told me that I can support the troops without supporting the war, but that seems very contradictory to me. It just seems like another arguement for people to get me to support something that I don't want to support. Maybe other people are grateful for the job they are doing, but I'm not. I just pity the troops because they've had their own freedoms taken away and most of them have been brainwashed.
