How do I change my avatar?

I've been fiddling around for a half hour, and I still haven't figured it out. I feel like a complete idiot because I know it is so easy, but I just can't get it. Can anyone help me?

Just go to that Edit your Preferences link and there you can change your avatar successfully.

in your profile edit and you can change the avatar. I think you did figure it out though you look nice in white.
