Why mylot is is paying us?

I have seen lots of websites which are pay to us, but they have some policies like if you join paid survey sites you need to read lots of paid emails, if you join search and earn then you will get money through searching them. Means they are getting lots of money through sites which they are promoting and sharing a very few amount with us. If they earn 100$ through us they pay 1$ to us, but what is about mylot we are discussing only our topics sharing our knowledge with each other, so why mylot is giving us money? Do you have any idea?
