I am not sure what the limit is as to how close a gill net can be set to a pier

I'm with SKSOUTH on this. Use of gill nets in Tx are illegal, besides, I really don't find any sport in catching fish with a gill net.
To me, give me a light rod and reel and fish to catch and You will have me happy. I prefer using artificial lures, it's more sportsman like.
