The 2007 Talk 'n Text-PBA Fiesta Cup is still ongoing, but the team standings show how fierce is the competition. The ten PBA teams are battling it out to get to the championship. So any fearless forecast about who will win the Fiesta Cup? My forecast: Favorites: Before the Start: Alaska, Red Bull, Sta. Lucia As of Today: Red Bull-Only losing one player due to RP Team commitments, the line-up of the Barakos is somewhat the same line-up who won the title last year, from the locals to their import, James Penny. At 5-1 (as of March 30), they're on their way to another back-to-back. Purefoods-The return of Marquin Chandler proved to be way too good for the TJ Giants, as they're now 2-1 with him after starting the conference 0-3 with Jesse King. As of press time, the Giants are playing the Alaska Aces. Ginebra-There's life without "The Fast and the Furious" after all. Though they lost on March 30 to Talk 'n Text, the Gin Kings's record, now at 4-2, shows that Ginebra can still play championship-type basketball sans the "Fast" Jay-Jay Helterbrand and the "Furious Spark" Mark Caguioa. With a champion coach in Joseph Uichico, a good import Rod Nealy, and the rampage of the "Fearless Saint" Ronald Tubid, GSM is on a roll for the Cup. Dark Horse: Before the Start: Air21, Talk 'n Text, Welcoat As of Today: Air21, Coca-Cola Sleepers: Before the Start: Ginebra, San Miguel As of Today: San Miguel-Two imports, two coaches, no wins, and six losses. That's the situation of the Beermen as of today. At the start, we thought Vidal Massiah could be the "messiah or savior" of SMB from an expected bad start, but still, SMB started the conference 0-2 with him. Then they tried (and still trying) Paul McMillan, but currently, SMB is 0-4 with him. When they found themselves at the cellar, they go for a coaching change, hiring Bethune "Siot" Tanquincen from the Ginebra coaching staff. Still, Siot can't give SMB a win. In my other post, let's talk about my observation in San Miguel's game vs. Sta. Lucia.
