I come from Puerto Rico where it rains a lot and lightning is very common. I am always surprised at the amount of people that are afraid of lightning storms. I think the odds are minimal in getting struck by lightning. Does anyone know the exact figures?

I do not know the exact figures but they say compare it to trying to win the lottery so the chance is very slim. I would rather win the lottery. With my luck I would probably win the lottery then get hit by lighting HA HA !!!!

actually...there r no such odds calculated ...as far as my knowledge is concerned. but i can suggest you the preventive measures. it is safest to be inside a car with the windows closed....for all the ionised charges flow to the earth through the metallic body of the car....n within the car there is no chance of a shock as no potential difference(voltage) is developed. even when you are at home... charges are conducted through the metallic pipes around your house....but still the car is the safest option!
