Garter Snakes

My cat found a baby garter snake and my kids want to keep it. I have a bearded dragon so I already have a meal worm colony and buy crickets regularly. Do Garter Snakes eat these bugs too?

I used to have a few of those when I was younger. Crickets were a great meal for them. You can also feed them other small insects, and goldfish work great too when the snake is large enough to eat them. You can find really slender feeder fish at most pet stores for pretty cheap. Bait stores with live tanks also generally have good prices.
