Can anybody teach me the best way to make a luscious coffee?

I've been drinking coffee for a long time.. I've been asked by my mom and aunts a favor to make them a cup of joe for several times but they were never impressed with the fruit of my mix. Awful. Somebody there please help me save my wounded ego and make anyone have their mouth watered with my coffee!??
