Have your husband join a local Veterans group,(DAV,VFW,etc). They can represent him in a disability claim with the VA. Tell him I'm proud of him, I have two myself.

Thats it, dear. I have a purple heart medal (Viet Nam) and a certificate. The only other recognition is that after your husband leaves the service and his wound makes him disabled to a certain percentage, he'll be eligible for medical benefits and/or a small pension depending on his time in service, his rank leaving the service and his conduct.

Thank you for your response I appreciate it. I just can't believe that is all the army does for purple heart recipents. I know it is a high honor, I guess I just think you soldiers deserve more. I am thankful for the service you have done, and sorry to hear you were injured. Please take care, and thank you for the response.
