Is ANYONE Out There Actually Happy With Windows Vista?

I've read all sorts of reviews (none of them glowing) about Windows Vista -- too many different versions, too expensive, too resource-greedy, too incompatible, just as vulnerable to the old tricks as XP and all the Windows releases before it, and just as irritating with its paranoid default behavior. I've read articles about how Vista will "win by default" because it's all that's being preloaded on new systems now, and Microsoft is end-of-life'ing XP in a year or so, with support going away for it in a couple of years after that. I've even read the scathing reviews of Vista's draconian digital restrictions management, that effectively cripple the OS entirely when it thinks there's piracy going on. What I haven't read is *anything* positive from any of Vista's users. Is anybody out there actually happy with this thing? Or is it really the silent flop nobody's paying attention to?

We haven't upgraded to Vista yet for this very reason. We are going to wait a little bit longer until we see some of the bugs have been worked out. I highly doubt that Vista will take over and XP will be gone in a year. There are still far too many people out there that love using XP.

It's certainly not going to ever "take over" in the average consumer's mind, at least until it can't be bought anymore. That's coming soon -- Vista is preloaded on almost all new computers now and MS are rapidly yanking XP off the shelves for anyone except OEMs, who get stern strongarming if they still want to use XP. With support for XP ending in just over three years, businesses are essentially being strongarmed into switching as well. Then again, I'm hopeful many of them will switch to Linux :)

My fiance is a big fan of Linux. I've heard a rumor that Dell may be signing a contract with Linux. That would be very interesting.

Woow WIndows Vista.. what a hot subject i can say. I have talked a lot in my area with many of my friends and all of them had only positive thoughts about it. I can say that i was blow off by this new windows system. Some things certainly lack to it but this new look which Microsoft has incorporated in it certainly do the money you would give for it. I have waited this new system for 2 weeks and here i am using it. It was pretty hard for me to buy it because in my area it can't be found. So i had to ask a friend from another part of my country to order me. I am so happy using it and all i have are only words of gratitdue. I post here a short description about VISTA. Windows Vista contains hundreds of new features; some of the most significant include an updated graphical user interface (GUI) and visual style dubbed Windows Aero, improved searching features, new multimedia creation tools such as Windows DVD Maker, and completely redesigned networking, audio, print, and display sub-systems. Vista also aims to increase the level of communication between machines on a home network using peer-to-peer technology, making it easier to share files and digital media between computers and devices. For developers, Vista includes version 3.0 of the .NET Framework out of the box. The .Net Framework makes it significantly easier for developers to write high-quality applications than with the traditional Windows API. Windows Vista is the best for my pc
