I don't know if anybody had noticed that over the weekend there has been more recall on foods for your pet. This time it includes even some treats. I just can't get over the fact that if your pet died from eating this food....you may not be compensated for your loss. The best case would be....they'd give you the value of your pet.....since in most states a pet is only considerd personal property. I know it would be hard for me to put a price tag on my pets and a few dollars would definately not compensate me for my loss....since I happen to love them very much. You can read more about it at http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070401/ap_on_bi_ge/pet_food_recall_legal So what's your pet worth to you? Please tell me what you think about this.

Our pets are priceless to us... I can't even begin to put a price tag on what our pets are worth to us as they are like our kids. Sure we got our cat from a shelter, and paid $30.00 for her, but over the last year she is our little girl and our Mini Schnauzer was a gift to us from my brother after a year of losing our other one who was 18 years old when he passed. But how do you put a price tag on all the love they give you and are like kids to us. I know here in Las Vegas the price range of a Schnauzer is $850.00 and that was 5 years ago when we were looking. But my brother gave him as a gift. I have seen some are getting together for some major Lawsuits on Menu Foods. But still it would be hard to say what a pet is worth. It is scarey to see more and more pet food being recalled. Our food isn't good to give them so what are we to do. Even some dry food is being recalled. All we can do is watch and wait and hope and pray that it is all cleared up and our pets are ok...My heart goes out to all that have lost a pet as I know how we LOVE the 2 we have and it would be a GREAT LOST to us....

That's exactly my point.....it's like they don't even care that people are loosing their beloved companions. Most of us take good care of our pets and try to do whatever we can to ensure their safety....who would have thought that feeding them the recomended food.....would be what ends up killing them.

It's really sad with all this happening... and I keep worrying about what to feed my dog, because more and more is getting recalled all the time. What will happen if I find out later that the food we have is going to be recalled? I wonder if I should take her off dog food until it's all sorted out, but people food isn't good for her either, so I don't know what to do.

I know it's really tough to figure out what to do.If you only feed dry food you are most likely safe...or at least up until now.It does worry me that they are recalling some dog treats now as well. When I was growing up....we never fed our dogs dog food....only table scraps and they seemed to do just fine. For now that may be the safest thing to do.....I'm sure my dog would not have a problem with that....he loves table scraps.

I have been keeping a close eye on the recall. So far my dog's food has not been on the list. He is asleep under my feet right now. The main treats he gets right now is when my husband fixes breakfast he also fixes a plate for our dog. :) "Blackie" is spoiled rotten. Would not take nothing for him. He also like to go with us when we take a ride somewhere. Happy Easter.
