Long response...Is it better to respond with one long response?

I know "quality" is emphasized here on mylot and long responses get more earnings than short responses. My question is actually related to the earning. If our response is long, do we get paid more if it's just one long paragraph rather than divided up into smaller paragraphs? The latter is easier to read, easier to organize and how we were taught in school, but I did that and ended up with a small payment, which made me wonder if it was because I cut up my response into shorter paragraphs. If I had made a longer paragraph, meaning, I just typed all those short paragraphs into one paragraph, would it have earned more for me? Thanks!

No idea, my friend. But I always use paragraphs where appropriate. I wouldn't think myLot will penalize your earnings either way. If a long answer earns more, they probably count by words in total anyway. If they are looking for keywords, paragraphs or no wouldn't make a difference too. Guess I am no help here, sorry. :P PS.: A long mess of words without paragraphs is really hard to decipher. :PP

Dear friend ! I am also wondering about the same thing that does long posting and long response can earn more money that that of short and small answers and postings. If no then why to waste time on writing long answers instead of earning more money by typing short and simple meaningful answers good luck

Actually, I think the length of the respose depends on the topic itself. Some require just a short response, some can't be explained just by a short response. I just wondered if a long response broken up into shorter paragraphs would still be okay.

Well eversince I started joining mylot, I always try my best to point my views on every post that I make. And as you know, I have a previous experience about the earnings I received here on mylot. So I decided to read most of the guidelines, especially on how to earn more here on mylot. This link will explain to you everything, on how to earn by responding and posting a new discussion. This is for the mylot Do's and Don'ts: http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx While this is for the earnings algorithm http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/343175.aspx I posted this, as I feel it is not better to speculate and make judgements on things that we are not familiar of. So I hope that this link helps you..

As far as I know, it has more to do with the letter count than anything. Maybe your post with the small paragraphs had less letters and you didn't realize it. Either way, I've usually noticed the same pay whether I keep my post intact as one big long paragraph, or split it up into several smaller paragraphs. I should test it again, though - and heck, quality never hurts, right? ^_^

I really don't have idea ethanmama about paragraph construction because I myself was used to dividing a smaller paragraphs whenever I respond to a friend discussion. I find myself neat and readable when it is divided into smaller paragraphs rather than compressing it into one paragraph that it is not easy to read. But I really make sure that I respond at least 3 sentence or more so that my earnings will not be affected by my sentence construction but mylot I guess didn't mentioned about how to construct it but it said it should be quality enough. Sorry If my respond doesnt help your queries lol!! I still wonder too!

there has been no claim nor proof that 1 long paragraph earns more compared to when you break it into several smaller paragraphs. i also do the latter, for easy reading purposes. also, when the discussion has several points to consider, it is best to make 1 paragraph 1 point. so that it won't be confusing. i found that it has not affected my earnings at all. actually, i think i earn more doing the latter. if it's a word count, one long paragraph or break it into smaller paragraphs, is just the same. but when it's a line count... the latter has more. i still think it has no bearing on earnings. just keep doing quality posts. :) goodluck!

I mostly think about the size of my response. My main motto is to make sure that I have made my point. No matter whether its in one line or in 10.

I think making paragraph does not affect the earnings. As long as you are making quality response with more lines, you will earn more. Even paragraph makes the response better for reader.

I haven't noticed any difference so far. In fact, this has come to my mind only since you brought it up. I divide my responses into paragraphs because, it is the proper thing to do rather than to make it look much longer. Besides, if I don't break them into paragraphs they will be more confusing. It is only proper to have another paragraph whenever, there is a shift in the presentation of the discussion.

I agree with you and the posters above that reading a long paragraph is more difficult than shorter paragraphs.

earnings here on mylot is still a mystery sis, I actually don't keep an eye on my daily earnings because I feel less motivated if I ever I see that I only earned few cents per day. For the paragraph question, I really have no idea and have not noticed that. But i always do divide my paragraphs into smaller ones If i am to post a long response. I know how hard and boring it is to read a long paragraph.

For as long as I can remember, I always posted more than 3 liners instead of 1. I'm still a little confuse on how the earnings are calculated here. But I long since stop trying to figure out about it. I just try to avoid topics that required me to answer in one word or sentence. :)

I wonder if quality is truly how we get paid more. I really cant see a difference. I usually write a couple sentences to each discussion and i usually get paid since i have joined here about 3 cents a post. I will be interested to see if someone says they get paid more for the longer the response.

Hello, ehanmama,as mylot always say they will pay for quality,so it makes us think what is the meaning of quality,I have tried different method of posting before, but i think i cannot just compare the earnings in different time period and make a generalization on how to earn more. My personal opinion is we may earn more if we type longer replies,i have had 40 replies of 10 lines or more in a day and my earning was very good that day. Good luck.

Thanks for your suggestion. I find it harder to log in nowadays because I have a pretty busy offline schedule. Maybe when I get more free time I'll do what you suggested. :)

This is reallya good question. Mylot emphases the quality of posting, that means qality is much important than quantity. but how can they contrl the quality of the posings here? there are so many posts here each day.if they use some software to evaluate the quality, it is impossible for a software to judge the quality of the postings. we all know that software is not so smart. softeware can judge the lenght of a paragraph, the lenght of the words, the correction of the grammar. but it can not judge the other aspects of a good posting. So what is this QUALITY?

well i don't think it matters with long or short responses it just matter that the response is good and according to the topic that's all nothing else is more important

I wouldn't have thought it would make a difference either way. I mean if it's about quality over quantity then they'll be looking at word count or something rather than whether the response is in one long paragraph or in several shorter ones. I always split my responses into shorter paragraphs. It makes them much easier to read and looks far neater and more presentable.

Being that I just joined yesterday, I don't know yet about long responses versus short responses. I've seen a few different opinions on other discussions regarding this subject. So, I don't know what to make of it yet. But I tend to ramble on anyway, so it probably won't make a difference in my case. As for one paragraph versus shorter broken up paragraphs, I was always taught in school that a paragraph generally cosists of 3 to 5 sentences. You don't want one paragraph if it's really long, as it makes it hard to read and follow for the reader. Shorter paragraphs are better.
