My hair is tired. What should I do with it?

My hair is actually the longest it's been in about 5 years (slightly past my shoulders) It's blonde in the front and brown in the back which I like o.k. The thing that bothers me is it's thin and tangles easily. I like to stay low maintenance if at all possible, but don't want to end up looking frumpy. My display picture is hard to see but pretty current. I'm so frustrated with it I'd be half tempted to shave it all off.

How about having the ends trimmed up, you only need to lose about half an inch off the length of your hair. Have your hair professionally cut and conditioned, it always makes my hair look and feel a lot better

Thanks for the response =) I might try a trim first and then if I still can't stand it get a full cut.

I would suggest having it blunt cut to about chin length. Losing the extra weight will give it more movement and it will appear thicker. Plus it won't tangle as bad! I had 9" cut off my hair a week ago and I love it! So much easier to care for!

That'd work too... howabout a nice mohawk or a perm... (Kidding of course) Maybe i should get it cut in steps like I mentioned I might do before. Its just so tempting to go straight for the short cut.

LOL, Hi Karmalina! No need to make that drastic of a change. Have you ever tried using a light mouse or styling gel to give your hair a little bit of body? Either of these can give you styling control and are very low maintenance so they might fit easily into your daily routine or can be used just when you feel the need to spruce up your look. Both products can usually be found for fine hair and if you don't like the new look you've created, just wash it out & start over. :)

Sounds like it may work better for you with shorter hair. Then the weight of the hair won't be so heavy it pulls any shape out. With the two toned look, have you tried a shorter look in back and longer but more layered on top? Something to try if you want lift on top, instead of coating the entire hair strand with gel or mouse, try adding it sparingly to the hair closest to the scalp & leave it a little spiky looking. After the gel dries a bit, you can comb the ends to go the direction you want. Just don't brush/comb all the way to the scalp. One of the combs with the wire pick at the end is good for working with a style like this. The gel will help hold the hair up slightly then you can use hairspray or an ultra hold styling spray to hold the rest in place.

Mousse helps for a while but then it just falls down and feels icky. I used to brush my hair with hairspray in it to get it to look "bigger" ow ow ow ow ow.

I just got my hair curled today. I have big curly hair. I used to have long silky black hair and I prefer it to be that way. I realized that I don't like my hair curly, it is straight and silky, but the strands are thick. i have colored it with reddish brown color. because i admire that color in sunlight.
