Have you ever helped a homeless?

Often when I have walked down the block or went down the stairs to catch the subway train, I have seen homeless beggars sitting with a bowl asking for help. My heart aches to see them in their condition. I get confused as to how much help should be enough for them. To me helping means giving them a few dollars. What else can I do? I have a busy life. How far can they go with just a few dollars? Maybe that will help them buy a meal or two, but what after that? Have you ever felt like helping the homeless?

I myself have helped the homeless. Some turn out to be good others are a fake. You just never know and thats why i only give change or a couple dollars. I read a story somewhere about an angel posing as a homeless person trying to see who helped and who didnt.
