Repetitive discussions.

I see many many postings about people replicating discussionns that already exist. I have a funny feeling guys that as the community grows (which it is by leaps and bounds) that that is a problem that will resurface over and over again. I'm afraid in fact that it will become harder to police the problem. Personally, I will take the following stance. Plagerize, as in copy and paste my words, we got a problem. Replicate an existing discussion of mine, Well I can see it happening, and I will try not to take it personally. I am hoping to receive the same consideration from others.

I agree with you on those points. I have been here quite some time, so, naturally, some discussions are going to come up over and over again. And, I've also seen people post exactly the same topic that I have. But, unless they copy it straight from mine, I don't really get upset. It happens.

Glad to hear from you. I really worry that newbies who aren't familiar with the site will get discouraged, it takes a while to get into the swing of things.

Only the persons posting themselves know if they are copying others' discussion. If their conscience is clear, fine. Otherwise, I do accept that sometimes, we would come up with discussions similar to others. But as long as you did not intentionally copy, I think it is alright.

Wel said! I try to ask questions that people don't normally think about, or that aren't too easy, that aren't too typical. I have never cut and pasted on MyLot, and I never will. I have real things to say, as opposed to just cutting and pasting...and what kind of discussion can you start from a cut and poast, other than "LOL" or "good one," or the like? What kind of responses are those? Not the kind that will generate much interest or much money!

I don't understand the big deal about it. There are so many users and many of us have completely different "friends" that we would reply to. I rarely have come upon 2 of the same exact discussions amongst my normal group of chatters here. I think it's not big deal. If you post something and someone posts something similar it means that your idea is a good one and others obviously think so too, not necessarily that they copied it.

I haven't been on here that long, but it does seem to be a topic that gets folks upset.

Repetitive discussions will always happen on mylot due to the amount of members that keep increasing and it take too much time to see if that particular discussion has been posted before. Have a nice day from Deeeky.

I would have to agree with you, you can't have a site this big without haveing topics repeated. I would worry if a friend kept posting the same topic as you or you noticed someone copying and pasteing your topics, but other then that. I wouldnt' worry.

Well I figure if it is happening with only 84,000 or so of us on the site, it's bound to get worse when we hit a million.

Not everyone checks up on a subject before they decide to do . Sometimes I will forget to check then when I do the discussion,i find out thatther are already discussions out on the same subject.I have heard about people copying other people's discussions and think that is disgusting

I totally agree with you. As Mylot grows and grows, finding a unique discussion is going to be next to impossible to do. That why when I see members saying they won't start a discussion because someone already started one similar, to go ahead and start one anyway. Their words will be different and they'll have their own take on things which are bound to be different from other people's so why worry about it?

Pretty much none of the ideas people mention on here are "original." Theyre questions we've all heard before pretty much, just worded in people's own ways. So if you (general you) get mad about someone posting the same type of question, that's pretty ridiculous. No one "owns" a question,i mean the question "do you get along with your parents?" isn't some brilliant new thing to ask. Even if they took exact wording...that's still not techincally wrong cuz what we say on here isn't copyrighted or anything. I doubt anyone would copy word for word though.

I've heard of a few cases of blantant cut and pasting. I think that is what gets most people upset. But, repeats are going to happen, and I just cn't see getting all bent over the inevitable.

Yes, copying and pasting, is not good. However, sometimes, I'll post a discussion, and not even realize it has been done before, but I think this will happen, as there are so many people on here, and it happens, mostly on accident, although their are people who choose to copy and that is just lazy and obviously they are here only for money. I agree. Sometimes, when people post discussions similar to mine, I think hey I justposted one like that, but it is obvious it was their own question and wasn't intentionally done, so It isnt personal unless it is copied, even almost word for word. I understand your feelings on this. and I agree.

Hey, I started here for the money, but I find the interaction with people from around the world to be really cool.
