Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired

I have been sick all weekend. My son brought home a bad cold, sinus infection, and what have you. Anyway, it spread through the house like wild fire. My trouble is that with all of my health problems, I do not just get mildly ill from something like this, I get sick. All weekend long, I held out waiting for Monday so that I could get in to see my doctor first thing in the morning. To my dismay, I called and the doctor was not in. I made an appointment for Tuesday afternoon since this was the earliest available appointment. By now, I have a severe case of bronchitis. My doctor is concerned that if it were any worse he would have sent me to the hospital for pneumonia. I am just sick and tired of being sick and tired. Have you ever felt this way? No one word answers please.

Yes I am sick of being sick and I'm also not so happy with our health care system here in Saskatchewan Canada. I went to see a doctor today to get a second opinion but I was smart enough to not let on I had already got my test results when I was in the hospital for the weekend. This doctor told me he didn't think I had anything to worry about but to be sure he would see to it I get an appointment for an MRI I waited till he was done frothing off at the mouth then I confessed I knew what the test results were, well you should have seen the look on that goofy face. So yes I hear you, I'm sick of being sick too.

So often you have to do that. If they know that you already know what the situation is, they will give you a completely different story. It's sad that you have to play dumb with a doctor just to see whether or not they will give you a straight answer.

There have been times that I have also been "sick and tired" of being sick and feeling tired all the time. I try so hard to stay away from anyone who is carrying something. I swear them germs find me no matter where I hide.

It is impossible for me to stay away from anything because with kids in school they are always bringing something home. If it is going around the school, it usually ends up coming home with one of my boys. It is amazing that I am not sick more often than I am.

I have felt this way and still do on occasion. My kids bring hme bugs from school and no matter what, I will catch them. It drives me crazy. In the last year I reckon I've had sickness and diarrhea no less than 5 times. I've also had cold after cold this past winter, I had a nasty tooth infection, and now with it being the start of Spring, my allergies are bad. I'm more than looking forward to a break from being sick and tired. I sympathize with you!

I know what you mean. It seems like one thing barely ends and the next one starts. I went through a bad tooth infection a few months ago too. I know that is not any fun. In addition, I am hoping to get over this before my allergies get bad. I take several medications for them, but they can only help so much. I hope you feel better too. Thanks for your comment.

I know what you mean. There has been so many things going around that it isn't funny. My one son catches everything that goes around and brings a lot home. I usually don't get most things this bad, but this one has really hit me hard. I hope you are feeling well now.

Right now the majority of my exercise comes from the physical therapy that I do three times weekly because of knee, neck, back and shoulder injuries. I do try to get some other exercise at home but it is often difficult for me. As for my diet, it probably is not the best, but I try. It is hard because I am always on the run because of so many appointments with doctors for my kids and myself. Sometimes I have to grab something and go. I do not always have time to think to eat, so I often end up skipping meals. I know that is not healthy, but sometimes it happens. Right now, the doctor says he does not care if I eat, as long as I push the fluids so I carry a large bottle of water everywhere I go so I do not run out. Thanks for your response.

I'm sorry to hear your sick and couldn't see your doctor until Tuesday. My allergies make me feel really bad at times, as there are so many foods I must avoid. Hope your feeling better quickly.

Alergies are no fun either. I know how it is to have to avoid certain foods. Thanks for your well wishes.

Yup!! I have sleep issues, so my immune system is really crappy...During the latter part of January and all of February, I had some sort of virus that made me exhausted and made my glands swell...I went to the drs at least 5 times (its free here in Canada...part of the taxes we pay in Ontario) and was on two courses of medicine. It took til the middle of march before i felt human again...unfortunately, i get knocked down like this every year...:-( i had to drag my butt to work every day - i have two part time jobs and at night and in the morning i used to cry because i was so tired!! So i definitely know what you mean...take care of yourself, get some rest and hopefully you will be better soon.

Yeah I've been in that position lately too. I'm diabetic and my blood sugar will get out of hand and the weather is changing and I will catch the first thing that comes around. I've had about enough of doctors and if I can't get my sugar under control I'm gonna have to see a lot more of them. I just had some big changes in my life that improved it, but I'm not well enough to properly enjoy it so yeah I feel that way and I'm very mad at it.

Some things that have helped me are orange juice-any source of vitamin c is good, more veggies and fruit, plenty of rest, and hand washing-this cannot be stressed enough. Kids need to be taught to wash their hands frequently, and we need to wash our hands frequently too; especially during cold and flu season. Some comfort foods are chicken soup-yes it really does make you feel better, earl gray tea, and hot lemonade. We had a stomach virus in the house once; it didn't let up until I'd scrubbed everything down with disinfectant. Hope you feel better soon.

It seems that's all I've felt like doing laately is sleeping. The doctor says he doesn't care if I eat or not as long as I push the fluids because he's afraid I'll get dehydrated, so I'm keeping a big bottle of water by my bed. I am trying to drink my juice and take my vitamins regularly too though. I keep antibacterial soap at all of the sinks. I just wish I had the strength to scrub everything down myself righ now.
