The doctors told him that he had to wear a mask when he goes out in public because he has tb where its to the point its untreatable.Authorities locked him up after they discovered he had walked into a convenience store without a mask. They wont even let him take a shower and he cant come out his cell.He cleans himself with wipes. What are your views on this?Do you think he should have life behind bars?http://wrallocaltechwire.com/news/national_world/national/story/1256856/

No he should not they should put him in a clinic where he can not affect anyone at all and where he has all the Facility for Hygiene I think it is awful that they will not let him have a shower and that it is against Hygiene Law How is he suppose to look after himself when they won't let me Why is he in Jail and not a Clinic? I think it is not Human what they are doing to him.

He is in four bed cell in ward-41 where they reserve a place in the hospital for the criminals. My thing is why this man have to be behind bars? I know he went out without his mask, but darn why not just give the man some coaching or something. What in THE WORLD!? He doesn't even have a charge. They must be trying to say attempted... i have no clue, this man should just be in a facility.Everybody deserves to shower.

Although I do agree he was wrong not to take the precautions he should have what they are doing is a bit exessive as well. They have him locked up like an animal. He's in solitary confinement with nothing to do but stare at the wall all day. He has not been charged with a crime and hasn't even been to court yet and he's been there for months. That's wrong. They need to fix that. I can understand quarentining him for safety reasons but to deny him some basics like showering is a bit out landish. Let alone the fact that he can't even have TV or similar in there. Even in jails they have that in common areas. He's not even being allowed visitors. If they want to confine him fine but don't strip him of everything. There is no reason for that. I saw he's going to court in the next month, hopefully between that and the press things will be fixed for him.

I dont think they should lock him up for life like that and they are treating him like an animal. They should warn him and better yet put him a nursing home with his own room, bathroom, kitchen and all if its all like that. They have rooms like that in hospitals.Dont get me wrong he should have worn his mask because he is putting others at risk, but locking the man up for life behind bars?

Thats disgusting. TB is infectious and so is the common cold, the flu and lots of other diseases. If he is on treatment he is hardly infective. This is discrimination especially as he is being treated like an animal. I think a case should be filed and the scientific opinion as to whether wearing a mask actually helps reduce the incidence of TB spread etc is warranted.

i think that is a bit much. i think he should have been more on top of what he is doing regards to wearing his mask, but he has to always be thinking about the health of everyone he comes in contact with. but to lock him up for life is just crazy

I could not open the article so I just read the responses to see if I can pick up something more to the story. First of all TB is not treatable, but medicines can be given in order for it not to be infective or as we say, dormant. If the TB is reactived then the patient is infectious. The patient wearing a mask is probably the best way of spreading the disease. If he deliberately refused to do it, or did not care that he is potentially infecting other people by not wearing a mask, then it becomes something serious. Maybe in Russia, that is considered a criminal act. And their way of trying to ensure that this patient will not be able to infect anyone else. In the hospital, pt's with TB have their room doors closed off with tape and to enter the room people would have to go through a vestibule, wear a mask and wash up before leaving the vestibule. That's kinda getting locked up too but in a more humane way. We don't know how Russia's policies are and how they deal with these kinds of offenses so my opinion shall stop here.

read up on it some more.....the jail cell has a special kind of ventilation system that keeps the germs from escaping, that's why he was not allowed to leave the room.

Yes he should be locked up in a prison environment ... but with the basic hygiene things that we all need ... shower, toilet and so on. He has been told that he was to wear a mask for the health and safety of others and he didn't ... this meant he put others at risk of catching the disease from him. He should have been fronted to the court immediately or within a reasonable time ... not left for this amount of time. Yes he should have life behind bars because he can spread germs that can kill people and if he killed a person in any other way he would be charged with murder. No do not put him in a nursing home ... if he cannot wear a mask when he is told to .. then he will not wear one if in a nursing home and that would put the other patients there .. probably the elderly ... at risk.

If it's that bad he should be put into a hospital or a nursing home kind of thing. Not behind bars, but he should be on some kind of lock down. TB is serious and he should of known better. He was putting other people at risk. So they should look into putting him somewhere, like a nursing home because I don't think jail is the answer. And for crying out, the poor guy still needs to shower, that is just sad. He probably doesn't have long as it is and I think they should make his life somewhat nice before he passes. And the only thing I can think of is maybe a home like a nursing home or even a nursing home and just keep an close eye on him. At least he would be able to shower and have his own room. If not, then put him back in the hospital or something.

Yes, I agree that he should be charged, life in prison? I think it all depends on what happens to those people that he infected and the people they come in contact with. What about those peoples children? And families and friends, and strangers that came into contact with them since then? Its not just the passengers to worry about but every single person those passengers came into contact with, in the airport, bus, taxi, car ride home, etc, etc. He was selfish, and acted in a way that should be somehow punished.

he has got tb which anyone else can get, it is really unfair treatment for such a guy, what is his mistake in all this, why should he be punished for something which he cannot have control over it, how the humans can be so cruel?
