perception plays an important role in communication

Communication is all about perception. It doesn't really matter what you say. It's what other people think you are saying. We all need to make sure that our true message is getting through to our listeners. And listeners need to make sure they are understanding the true message. That's why we need to ask questions, repeat things back, give illustrations, and make sure that our motives are being perceived correctly.
