What makes a true friend?

yes marci3 i have at least three or four friends of the sort you described.ONLY thing I do not expect them to behave or respond to my situation all the time as friends. What I mean to say, supposeing, I am in trouble and as expected my friend Sally could have but did not help me still she remains my friend as long as her own conscience supports her to continue to be my friend. Becuase however close we may feel to each other, everybody is an individual atleast at times and Exactly at those points where an individual and a friendship feeling clashes we mistakenly apply our own defination of Friendship.And sometimes we brand our friends as only Good times friend But in my opinion one should give time and opportunuty for friendship to grow, To grow real slow and strong. so long

Yes, a true friend tells you when you are doing something you shouldn't, always has your best interest at heart, the realtionship has a good 50/50 give and take. I would rather have 1 true friend than 50 regular friends...I know that was a weird way to put it, but I couldnt think of another word to describe it! =)

That is a pretty good description of being a true friend. For me true friend are those who can accept whatever you say about them.. about how bad there attitude or how wrong her decision. someone who can trust you and someone who really ask for your advice.

One who always share in the pain and unfortunate events is a true friend and will never be so crazy to enjoy the happy moments of the friend. One who can extend a maximum posible help when needed to is a good friend I think. All the best from oarnamav.

I would add that true friends can keep information about you confidential. Anyone who swears they won't breath a word of your secrets to anyone else and then turns around and does is not a true friend. True friends do not stab you in the back and are there for you when things are miserable and wonderful.
