Is a gun a protection weapon or a war item?

Would you shoot someone? Why ? Has anyone pissed you off that bad? They pissed you off to the point you thanked God that you did not have a gun available. I know there have been a couple of situations that I don't know what I would have done if I had that type of access. Really that is the reason why I have never bought one. People tend to do things and have more courage when they know they can run to a gun. Even at home. There have been situations where people purchased a gun for protection to keep at home. An argument broke out with a family member and they killed them. Please elaborate....
