Will you watch American Idol next season?

The ratings have gone down so much this season. It's sad. We've all given our input on how Sanjaya can't sing to save his life, and how he needs to go. And it's true, he can't sing, he can't carry a tune, and he has the worst style ever when it comes to "looking the part" We've witnessed some amazing artists-to-be get voted off so an old man can have some fun. In my opinion, if this is how it's going to be from now on, I won't continue to watch the following seasons because it's unfair. I think Sanjaya has potential if he really keeps trying, but he's not Idol material. Will you watch it next season?

This is nothing new. Every season they have had a mediocre singer grace the stage, and every season there have been people that have claimed they are never gonna watch again. The difference this year is that Sanjaya is getting more publicity than the others did (Howard Stern for starters). Remember Chicken Little? I will never know how in the heck he got in the top ten, and then beat out others. I will say though that this year has got to be the most boring American Idol season I have ever seen, but eh, I will probably be back again next season to watch.

I agree. I find myself not realy caring that it is on this year, but watch anyway. They really failed at the talent scouting this year (overall), for sure. But, I will probably tune in next season as well. :(

I agree with both of you. They really let loose on finding decent talent. I think the finalists [minus sanjaya] are all very good singers, but they lack originality and style. It's all very average. Yet something about the show just makes me want to watch more.. It's probably Simon, or Ryan.. Ryan's a hottie.

I'm not sure if I will or not- I skipped a couple of seasons after Clay Aiken and Ruben were the finalists- So I missed Carrie Underwood and Bo Bice. I love Bo's music now- I just had had enough of the show- After this year and Sanjaya and Hayley still in and Stephanie gone-- and even Gina- I might take another year off.. I've even heard rumors that SImon says Bye- Bye to Idol because of Sanjaya-- Hey the judges put him into Hollywood!

Indeed. I skipped over a few seasons after Clay and Ruben. I didn't watch the seasons between 2 and now. But I think if Simon leaves Idol and Sanjaya makes it even in to the final 2, I'll be skipping over another season if not completely skipping the show completely. Providing they make another season.

Whether I watch it next season will depend on how the rest of this season goes. If Sanjaya wins I seriously doubt that I will watch it next season unless they change the voting method. I do not feel their current procedure is very good and should only have one call per household or phone limit. The judges should make the final decision on who leaves since they are the experts and would make a fair decision.

I'll watch American Idol next season if there are no other interesting television shows on when it is on. I use American Idol as a last resort for televised entertainemnt.

I don't watch any of the idol shows. I find them boring lol. I have watched American Idol and Pop Idol before though and while the concept was still new it was a good one. The first season of Pop Idol was great. Then countries from all around the world jumped on the bandwagon and now it's just more of the same no matter which country you're in. The originality is no longer there.

Sanjaya is horrible! The judges are funny when they argue...thats about ALL the entertainment value I see that show as having. I have a hard time believing that the "voting" isn't rigged, actually. How can that Gina Glockson get the boot before Sanjaya??? She has style and a voice...Sanjaya has niether!

Sure, why not. I mean, i'm not really after the ratings of the show as long as i'm really fond of watching it and to always see who have the potentials. I love criticizing their voices (in a good way, though). But, I agree with you that I just don't understand why Sanjaya still has to stay. What's wrong with America? Let's just say, yeah, he has charm.. but it's not enough to even make him stay in the Idol. I'd be pissed if one of the other idols will be eliminated instead of him.

I'm so hooked on the show I would definitely watch it next season. It really doesn't matter who wins because the stars on that show will be stars regardless. Look what happened to Taylor Hicks from last season. He's barely making it right now while the runners up are outselling him at the record store.

No, the last time I watched it was the first season. After that i just watch it occassionally. It's rating goes down maybe because the want you wanted to win does not so whay bother watching it if the one remaining are not thw one you wanted.

I don't think I will. It has just gotten old. They need to do something to make it more fair and freshen things up.

I probably won't, over the last few years I have watched it less and less and this season seems like a circus so I am sure I will not watch it anymore. I am already bored with it and the contestants.

After this season, I really can't say if I will watch it next season. I have been highly dispointed in it this year, and it's not just the whole Sanjaya thing. It's just doesn't seem to be as good as previous years. Last year they had so many talented singers it was hard to pick a favorite. Of course, they had some that you knew weren't going to make it, but the competition between the good talent was tough.

Yes, I will definitely watch next year! I have enjoyed this year more than other years. Maybe because I am just getting used to Simon. Quite often I agree with him on the singing and the clothes! I think he gets people riled up on purpose.......and that is his *purpose* on the show! I think the girls are by far out-singing the guys this year.

I love this show, because of the opportunities that it gives, but I think it is becoming more and more of a commercial for coca cola. Although I agree that Sanjaya is not the best singer on the show, I think it is important to understand that it is the American people (albeit a certain demographic) that is voting and letting us know, who they want to keep. Hey I don't like the president, but the American people spoke and reelected him (or half of the American people), either way it is a democratic country, and American Idol is sort of a democratic show. I will return to watch with my kids next season, because in my house we are great music fans. I hope they will tune down the commercial part of the show though, or at least refrain from increasing the commercials. This is what would turn me away.
