Due to the amount of information and news sites that are avilable on the World Wide Web I have saved myself quite a lot of money buy not buying newpapers or magazines. I have also done my bit to help the environment on the nothing to recycle bit. Have a nice day from Deeeky.

The only newspapers I have bought in the past few years are the local ones. We have two in this area, one goes to press daily and the other weekly. When it comes to world news, I rarely ever watch it on television or read it on the web, unless it's a great big headline that hits me between the eyes when I log on. There is too much doom and gloom in the world today and I prefer to be as ignorant of it as I was in days past, when the media didn't have such wide coverage. Magazines, I buy occasionally... usually magazines about my crafts, but I don't buy the normal ones with stories in. I'd rather read a book which I know will contain a good story of the type I wish to read. I can read Bernard Cornwell for hours. In fact, the weather's very nice today... I might just get my lounger set up in the garden and go out there to read my current book. I haven't picked it up for a couple of weeks, and I do so love to read this guy's writing. So, I guess I'm not much of a news and gossip freak, until it comes to my local area. Then, of course, I want to know what gives, especially as far as the local hospital is concerned at the moment, because I funraise to keep it functioning. I think it will still close and we be moved to Brighton Hospital but at least I know I've done my bit! Brightest Blessings.

I don't read in bed... I like to finish a chapter before dozing off or I get lost! lol. I sometimes lie on the bed and read during the daytime when I'm wide awake and not likely to doze off; otherwise, I prefer to settle on my lounger in the garden. A nice bit of country air, some sunrays, the scent of the flowers and the birds twittering... what could be better?

I suppose that they will never put all the pages of a book on the net so obviously we have to have that book to cuddle when reading it in bed to fall asleep with. Happy reading.

I live in a small town and you are not going to find our local news on the web. So we subscribe to the local newspaper. All of my other new sources are on the web.

Hi Deeky, I'm with you on this one, it is very nowadays that I buy a newspaper or magazine, although I did buy a magazine this week as I had finished reading my book and felt a bit lost with nothing to read in my hours of sleeplessness, although it will get recycled when I've finished! I would tend to believe more what I read on the web well decent sites like the bbc and so on anyway rather than reading tabloids and their lies, most of it's about celebrities and who they are seeing or what they are wearing this week anyway and I really don't care for that at all! Have a great holiday weekend!

I buy the newspaper every day. It cost 1.10euro. I dont really look on the web for news. I also buy my OK magazine every week and sit down and relax when my son has gone to bed and chill out.

Chilling out with a good mag is a thing I used to do many years ago and was great to be able to fall to sleep with.

Well I agree that a lot of information is available on the internet. But still I cannot imagine life without a newspaper.I am just addicted to newspaper. My days start with a newspaper.Though I have to spend money to buy a newspaper and the information on the internet is free but still I love to read the news from the newspaper. It is also quite convenient sometimes to read from the paper as it can be taken anywhere, though laptop can also be taken anywhere but I don't have a laptop though it makes no difference. It is a habit which is not going to die easily. But I have stopped buying magazines as I was not addicted to them.

It is not easy to kick a good habit and a laptop does'nt have many minutes of battery life either.

even if i stay in front of the computer most of the day, i stil prefer reading newspapers and magazines in its original form. we buy newspapers every weekeend and we buy our favorite magazines every month (for monthly subscriptions). i still would like to stack on the hard copies so that if i get tired of searching the net, i could easily find them in my book cases. i compile all of my magazines for future references.

We have already lots of information coming from different kind of web. But still newspaper is still best in acquiring knowledge because it can also help our reading skill and language.

There probably is a lot of knowledge that can be cut out and kept especially local people and friends that would never get thier pic on the web.
