The Plight of the Genius

Okay, I was reading and found an article that said that when geniuses are growing up, they often have difficult lives in school because neither the teachers or the student population understands them. I also read about how the curriculum does not gear towards those on the high-end of the intelligence spectrum, but to those on the lower-middle end. Are there any people in MyLot recognized as "gifted" when you were coming-of-age? How did your gifted label influence your social development. At my schools, we had special classes that separated us from the general population. Also, if you are considered a genius as an adult, or know any legitimate geniuses, how are they accepted or not accepted amongst your peer group?
