First thing that comes to my mind is why would you want to install windows 98. It is no longer supported making it less stable as well as more open to all kinds of internet nasty's. Then you have to consider that many websites as well as software do not work with 98 any more. My parents have 98 and they just continue to have problems with it for the same reasons. I understand that cost is an issue for some people but it is well worth the price to upgrade to at least xp.

Also I forgot to mention that if the OS that is on the computer is say windows 2000 then there is a built in safety to keep a lesser OS from being installed. I am not saying that it can't be done just that you have to start messing with the bios and registry and they are two area's that if you don't know what your doing you can easily do more harm then good. I know that you asked this question a few weeks ago, so How did you make out ?

You have to go at bios (setup) and set the boot from CD. You can go to setup pressing DEL or F2 depending of your laptop. My english is not the best. Sorry. Hope to been useful.

First let me ask you why do you want win-98 when we have win-xp even win-vista ? But still if you want win-98 then I belive you have to change the bios setup and make the first boot device to cd and thn restart the laptop and proceed as per instruction.
