A lot of times when I am online and have logged on to yahoo messenger, people I don't know send me messages and would want to chat with me. What I don't understand is that how did he or she get my id. How could that person send me any message? Is there any way to block strangers from sending me any further messages? Please suggest. Thanks in advance.

if you are a member of yahoo answers as well, people can add you as a friend through that they dont need you email, i dont think you can even decline them they just become friends. It is annoying because on most of yahoo you havent got a clue who they are. The only way i think you can delte them that i know of is as follows. When someone added me i could add them for some reason and it gave me a link to their profile, i think through this area you can delete them as a friend if you dont want them, otherwise i do not have a clue

There must be a way to block them, I know msn live messenger has it.... You might want to check your own personal settings too, maybe you have it checked where your id and email is placed in public domain or something (hope that makes sense) hmm ever asked help from the support service team of yahoo messenger?

lot of ways to collect ids: forwarded mails/grops/forms/member.yahoo.com(in this they can find ur online/offline status also) Just add those strange ids to ur ignore list.

My best advice is to ignore them. Most of these strangers are hackers. If you will respond to their message, they will record your IP address and they may install a virus afterwards. I think there's a blocking feature in Yahoo Messenger but unfortunately, I don't know where it is located. Maybe you can find an answer in some members' responses. Just always remember to ignore these strangers and you'll be fine. - Ron Reyes www.ronreyes.co.nr
