is 3 months to early

is 3 months to early to be feeding my son baby ceral even though ha likes it and does well with it? im a little mixed up because i have family who say its to soon and others who told me to do it

i started feeding my son the baby rice from about 3 months and he loved it. i think its ok as long as you make sure the mixture is really smooth. they now say you should wait untill baby is 6 months old before you start wheaning them. but if you think baby is ready now it should be ok

Generally speaking most doctors are recommending waiting from 4-6 mos of age for cereal. But thats a general guideline. How do YOU feel he is doing on it? If he isn't ready he might get a stomach ache from it, so watch him. Also if he doesnt have good head control you might consider waiting. Make it watery, at his age they can choke on the cereal. Use your mothers instinct and also ask his doctor, I started my son on cereal at 4 months of age - the pediatrician ok'd it
