He is going to Iraq:(

I found out that my fiance is being sent to Iraq. At first he was on alert, and we were hoping that it would stay at that. But I got a letter stating that they have received the mobilization order. He will be leaving in June, I don't know how long they would be over there for. When I called him he didn't know about it, so I told him and he was quit for 10 mins. Then he said he has to call all his family and tell them whats going on. We are not married yet, but we have 2 children together. The oldest is from my ex, then we have 1 year old. But the problem is that I'm still married and have to wait a year to file a divorce. We are worried that we will not have the income, and I can't get a job at this moment. I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any advice?

I'm really sorry to hear about your situation. My husband is in Iraq right now (he's been gone for just a month), and we actually aren't having our church wedding until he gets back in 2008, but made the situation to elope last minute before he left to make things legal before the deployment. Anyway, I'm not sure exactly what your financial situation is, but I know that my husband is making quite a bit more money during his deployment since it's all tax free and they get hazardous duty pay, etc. Even though your fiance won't be receiving married pay, there will still be a pretty big difference in his paycheck probably, so maybe that will help out. There's also this special savings account that soldiers on deployment can start where you get 10% interest, so that might be a really good thing to take advantage of! I don't really know all the details about it, but he could probably ask someone for more info. I hope I'm not just repeating a bunch of stuff you already know! lol If I am, I apologize! Anyway, sorry again to hear about your fiance's deployment-I know how hard it can be. If you ever need to talk to someone about it, feel free to send me a message! :) Good luck!
